You might have a negative reaction when you think about boundaries and God, but you shouldn't. There are already boundaries in a real Christian's relationship with God. God respects our decision to sin, even though it hurts him deeply. He respects it when we say no, that of course doesn't mean that it is right to sin, or that it is what God wants, but he respects our choice. In the same way, we have to respect it when God says no, which he sometimes does. Paul repeatedly asks God for healing, but God didn't love him with healing, he loved him with his presence. People say that God always answers our prayers, but a better thing to say would be that God may not answer our prayers, but that doesn't mean he stops loving us.
