Yesterday's sermon was preached by Pastor Engelsma at Covenant URC. The text was Micah 5. This chapter talks about a ruler who promised Abraham and his descendants (Israel) that will be born in Bethlehem. This is obviously a prophecy of the then-coming Messiah. Bethlehem was a true backwater, with it barely even earning the title of a village. Most people probably wouldn't have even heard of it, and yet it is here that Jesus was born, fulfilling the prophecy spoken hundreds of years before by God through the prophet Micah.
