Bonhoeffer

Bonhoeffer was a German theologian and minister during the 1900s. He lived through both World Wars in Germany and was part of a plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler. The plot failed and he died in a concentration camp three weeks before the end of World War II. World War I raged when he was about seven, and thee of his older brothers served in the German army, one dying on the front lines. His mother had a mental breakdown that lasted years, which affected Bonhaffer for the rest of his life.
