Ho Chi Minh

Ho Chi Minh came to power in Vietnam by becoming the chairman of a communist party there. His descent into communism started with reading Lenin's book on communism, and he was an extremely loyal devotee to its principles. However, he knew how powerful America was, and hoping to curry favor with them used a lot of American rhetoric. This included quoting from the Declaration of Independence and stressing individual rights. Unfortunately for him, Harry Truman was much more interested in the tension between the USSR and America, and not as interested in undoing imperialism by helping Ho Chi Minh give Vietnam independence from France.
