India had an interesting economy in the days when England ruled it. At first, because of the caste system, only certain people could do certain trades, and the untouchables could do nothing. However, the English didn't really care about the caste system, and untouchables find jobs in English businesses. The untouchables didn't care much about their wage because after all, they were just happy to have a job. That meant a flood of cheap labor that quickly outpaced English factories.
