Yesterday's sermon was taught by Pastor Bilkus. His text was from 2 Chronicles 25. This chapter details the story of King Amaziah of Judah. King Amaziah served God, but not wholeheartedly. He gathered 300,000 troops from his own country and then hired 100,000 mercenaries from Israel to aid him in an invasion of Edom for 100 talents of silver, which I guess is a lot. A prophet came to him and told him that God had left Israel and to send the mercenaries back. King Amaziah didn't really want to do this because he had already paid them, but the prophet convinced him to anyway. The mercenaries, likely because they no longer would get any plunder from the invasion, were extremely angry at this and plundered Judah on the way back, killing 3,000 people. The point is that all of us still have "100 talents" that we want to hold on to. As Christians, we need to give up these idols and serve God wholeheartedly.
