Spiritual warfare in the Old Testament is different then what we think Spiritual Warfare is nowadays. The main differences are that when we think about spiritual warfare we usually think of a Christian resisting his own flesh and/or temptations from the Devil. However, the Israelites thoughts of spiritual warfare as combat literally between two spirits or as a human gifted God's power against a human gifted with Satan's power (The later is what is referred too as magic in the Bible and should not be confused with the magic featured in most fantasy stories). It was also believed that in battles the spirits of one nation battled the gods of the other nation and whoever triumphed would bequeath victory to its own side.
