Old Testament Articles Report

In the middle east, there was a wide variety of gods, about seventy major ones that kept the world working. El was the father, creator, and the chief god. Baal (Which actually means Lord and can be used to refer to any god, though the most likely is named Anat) was the god of storms and rain. Dagon was the god of corn. Asherah was the wife of El. Mot was the god of death and the Underworld. Astarte was the goddess of fertility. Some of these are recognizable and can be found throughout the early Old Testament.
