Book Review: The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Riddle of Ages by Trenton Lee Stewart

Overview
It has been around ten years since the events of the first book, and the team that had taken down the diabolical Leodaptha Curtain's plans of taking over the world, Reynie, Sticky, Kate, and Constance, are grown-up. Or at least almost grown-up. Constance is a tween, and Reynie, Sticky, and Kate are almost adults. Unfortunately for them, the dangerous Ten Men (So named because they have ten different ways to kill you) have broken out of prison, and are plotting on breaking their former employer out as well.

Positive
The book does a great job of character development. Even the ultra annoying and irritable Constance and the evil Mr. Curtain get their own character arcs, which is a welcome difference from the first few books. It also does a very good job of bringing back the fast-paced action riddled with, well, riddles, that was lacking from the last book. Like lacking a lot from the last book.

Negative
Pretty much the only thing that I found that I didn't like was that the story starts somewhere in the middle of the adventure, which is essential to the plot but is kind of jarring at first. Another note as that Constance's ability as a telepath (To make things fair the bad guys get a telepath too) is played up a lot, which some people might not like.

Conclusion
The last book in the series, The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma was a huge letdown. The book basically consisted of them getting stuck in a room and trying to break out, and the villains had absolutely no interest in revenge, or anything really. This book fixed everything, bringing back the action, the riddles, the characters, the humor, everything! It's a worthy sequel to the first two books.
