Clarence Thomas

As the day of Clarence Thomas's confirmation drew near, his enemies pulled out a tried and true trick; sexual harassment charges. A woman who Thomas had hired in his previous job at the suggestion of a friend brought forward the charges, despite always, for the most part, being civil towards Thomas. Thomas not only hired her into the EEOC but helped her get another job when she decided to move on. The charges made things tricky for both people trying to confirm Thomas and the people who didn't want to confirm him but also didn't believe the charges. A few senators voted against him, but made it clear that it was not because of the charges, but because of his beliefs.
