Before the Battle of Midway

As the Japanese fleet made its way through the Pacific Ocean, it was discovered by an American PBY on a routine scout patrol. This resulted in several attacks from the air on the Japanese fleet. Hilariously, the rookie bombers reported leaving the Japanese fleet burning and mangled sinking at least two carriers, despite not even scoring a single hit. The Japanese fleet was completely unscathed and making full speed for their target.
