Yesterday's sermon was preached by Pastor Chris Engelsma at Covenant URC. The text was Mark 10, specifically Mark 10:13-14. This passage relates the story of parents bringing their children to Jesus and asking him to bless them. The disciples attempt to stop them, but Jesus intervenes and rebukes the disciples, saying that to enter the kingdom of heaven one has to be like a child, thus they shouldn't hold back the children from him. This clearly shows the value Jesus places on children, who weren't valued at all in old Israel. Thus, the present-day church should put a lot of effort into educating and teaching their children about the way of salvation.
