Japan Persecutes Christians

After Japan correctly determined that the Europeans would use Christianity to conquer their land, they set out to purge every cross and Christian from their islands. They herded both the European Christians and Japanese Christians into work camps to be slaves or just killed them upright. It was similar to the Spanish Inquisition except against Christians instead of pagans. To insure that no child was raised as a Christian, the imperial government kept track of all births to insure that no Japanese child was born to a Christian. The resulting mistrust of Europeans and the west, in general, lasted for hundreds of years, with only the Dutch being allowed to trade in Japan, and, hilariously, only allowed to set foot on Japanese soil if they acted like a complete buffoon.
