After Pearl Harbor

After the raid on Pearl harbor was over, America declared war on Japan and Japan declared war on America and most of its allies, launching America into the Second World War. The United States president at the time, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, was reported to have had a lighter spirit after the war was declared, for a good reason. After months of tedious negotiations that had been on the edge of a knife every second of the way, America was finally resolved on a course of action Churchhill, who heard about the raid and declarations of war over the radio, also was said to have slept lighter knowing what he had to do.
