Yesterday's sermon was preached by Pastor Christopher Engelsma at Covenant United Reformed Church. The text was Ezekiel 37:27. This passage is the parable of two sticks. Ezekiel takes two sticks and joins them together. This is a symbol of what God will do with Israel and Judah, which had originally been one nation but fractured into two separate nations after David's death, with ten tribes making up the nation of Israel in the North and the other two making the nation of Judah in the south. Some people might say that this prophecy was never fulfilled, after all Israel was lost to history after being conquered by the Assyrians. However, this prophecy was actually fulfilled spiritually. Jesus reunited his entire kingdom, not just Israel and Judah, but the gentiles as well, and he is working for it to be reunited once more.
