OT Article Report

Sheol is mentioned in quite a few places in the Bible, even God refers to it on occasion. It is different than Heaven and Hell. It is a place that both wicked and righteous go to, and there is no mention of either punishments or rewards. It is a place of no joy, possessions, memory, or knowledge. It sounds to me that it may be a place that souls go when they die to wait for judgment, or perhaps to wait for Jesus to conquer death. Perhaps in the NT when it says Jesus preached to the souls in Hell, the Bible meant Sheol. But these are all "perhaps" and no one can know for sure until we die.

Fun fact: I named a character in one of my stories "General Sheol" because I thought Sheol just meant death.
