OT Report

Psalms are split into three categories or genres, lament, praise, and wisdom. Lament psalms are often written when the poet has a problem. He usually assumes that he is innocent and all the enemies against him are evil, and he will be vindicated when God crushes them. It's worth noting that the majority of pagan laments seem to think that you need to flatter the deity before you ask him/her for deliverance. Praise psalms are exactly what they sound like, praising God for his deliverance and victory. Same for wisdom psalms, there about communicating God's wisdom. Very rarely psalms mix these genres. Next, we will look at how the Psalms can relate to us in modern days.
