Susie Spurgeon ran a charity for pastors that were evangelical, poor, and actively involved in bringing about God's kingdom. She sent books and sermons to them to aid them in their preaching, as well as necessities like clothes and money. She was angered when congregations didn't provide for their pastors. One pastor sent her a letter telling her that his wife and two daughters had only one Sunday dress and a weekday dress each. This angered Susie, and she sent him clothes and money to help him get back on his feet.
