Yesterday's sermon was preached by Pastor Chris Engelsma at Covenant United Reformed Church. The text was Acts 1. This chapter relays the story of Pentecost, where the Holy Spirit came down and gave the apostles the gift of tongues. This was at the Feast of Weeks, a feast celebrated in spring after forty-nine days, a week of weeks. Pentecost changed the early church because gentiles would be allowed and prominent in the church, not just the Chosen People, and this was evident because the Holy Spirit came on Gentiles and Jews alike.
