japan Declares War

Japan declared war on America, with the Emperor and his ministers of the military formally approving it. This also meant that the attack on Pearl Harbor was a go. The fleet was already ready and steaming towards Hawai. The commanders were nervous, obviously not wanting a chance to meet with an American Fleet. They were not actually at war yet, as the Americans hadn't been told about the declaration of war. It wouldn't be until after the attack, which made the mission dishonorable even by Japanese standards. A message was intercepted by the Americans about the Japanese that would've revealed the place, but it didn't look like a diplomatic message, which was the only kind the Americans were interested in, so it ended up at the bottom of somebody's to-be-decoded basket, to be discovered too late.
