Sermon Report

Yesterday's sermon was preached by Pastor Engelsma. The text was Zechariah 9 (If you've been paying attention you'll have noticed a theme here). The theme was Salvation for the Philistines. Zechariah 9 begins with a list of cities and prophecies of their doom. This list is in the exact order that Alexander the Great conquered them as he moved south on his war of revenge against the Persian Empire. This prophecy also speaks of Philistines that would survive the destruction of their cities and says that they will be for God. You can imagine the Jews must have prayed for these philistines with fists raised instead of raised hands. In the same way, we need to pray for our enemies, whether that's the Taliban ravaging Afghanistan or personal enemies.
