Yesterday's sermon was preached by Paster Bergsma. The text was 1 Corinthians 5. This is where Paul talks about the sins that the Cornithains church were committing. Paul said that they could not allow the sin to continue in the Church, because just a little can corrupt the whole church. The Church is sort of like a little bubble for a Christian. It protects them from the full consequences of sin, which makes it easy to "dabble" in it. Excommunication, when the dabbler is removed from the Church, is so that he can experience the full consequences and repent of his sin.
