Boundaries - Chapter 14 B (Resistance to Boundaries)

Some other things that can make you feel resistance to boundaries is the fear of the unknown and a faulty conscience. Some people are terrified to leave abusive relationships. At least where they are now is predictable and familiar. As one person put it, "I didn't want to leave Hell because I knew all the street names." This is usually a result of being trained by their parents that they can't have boundaries, as is having a faulty conscience. You feel guilty when they don't let people take advantage of them or when they say no to people, because when you grew up you've always been punished for trying to set boundaries.
