The Black Fawn

In this chapter, an orphan named Bud who has come to work at a farm goes into the woods and meets a fawn. He hears the owner of the farm, named Gramps, come. He thinks Gramps will try to kill the fawn, but instead Gramps talks to him about nature and animals, teaching him a little of the ways of the woods. Then they return to the Farmhouse where Gramps readies his fishing equipment to a fishing excursion the next day.
