Outlines of Church History
The Reformation continued. Luther's rather radical views (At the time.) were tempered by a confession stating that everything of the Roman Catholic Church would be upheld, save that the Gospel would now be taught. Nobody was all that excited about this though, and the confession was quickly made null. Matters were further confused when a Peasants Revolt broke out. The rebels claimed to be reformers, but Luther himself said that they should be put down. The Nobles did so, slaying thousands of them. Some reformers fled to Switzerland, such as John Calvin. The Pope and his minions had tried to stop the Reformation, but there is no stopping an avalanche once it is moving.
