Outlines of Church History

As the Church progressed into the Middle Ages, Roman Catholicism took an even stronger hold. Carving statues of the saints to remember them by, became carvings idols of the saints to worship. One missionary heard that natives of an island worshipped a four-headed idol, but on further investigation discovered it was a statue of Mary. Despite all this, including the ill-planned crusades, many souls were won by missionaries, especially in central Europe. Time was continuing though, and perhaps dark times would lay ahead.
