The History of the Church

The Norsemen had come. They destroyed the coasts and plundered the towns, they burned the monasteries and plundered the cathedrals, and they lopped off plenty of heads in the process. Now, the king, Louis the Pious, did one of these four things. Which one would you have done? 

A. Build walls around all the large cities so that the people can run there like the Romans did when Barbarians invaded them. (Tried and true!)

B. Give the Norsemen some land so they would stop taking yours and make friends with them. 

C. Train a local army for each province to protect and defend the people that lived there. 

D. Hide in your closet.
