Phonics
I figured out today that one reason Andrew is having trouble learning to read is b/c he doesn't know what the first and second letter of a word are. I would ask him what sound the first letter made, and he didn't understand what I was talking about. So today, I gave him a list of words and he told me the first letter, second letter, etc. Hopefully, this is a breakthrough.

Don't worry, little guy, reading will come!
ReplyDeleteIf it is any comfort, I couldn't read comfortably until I was ten or eleven. Mom recalls that trying to teach me was simply exhausting.
I guess I just needed time.
